KATHERINE HUFF O'NEIL

 

Education:

Practice Experience:

Ms. O'Neil is a partner in the law firm of Graff f& O'Neil.  Her current practice consists of professional malpractice, general appellate practice, civil trials and appeals in state and federal courts, and complex civil litigation.  She has served as a Multnomah County Circuit Court pro tem Judge.

 

Professional Activities:

Mr. O'Neil has been a member of the Oregon State Bar since 1977.  She has served as a Board Member in the Appellate Section.  She has been actively involved in many Oregon State Bar committees including:  the Dispute Resolution Committee, Judicial Administration Committee, and Joint Committee on the Creation of New Judgeships, to name a few.  She is currently a member of the American Bar Association's ABA House of Delegates, where she serves as the Oregon State Bar Delegate, and a member of the Oregon Court of Appeals Settlement Conference Program.  She is also a Volunteer District Court Mediator for the Federal District Court of Oregon and Chair of the Oregon lawyer representatives to the 9th Circuit judicial conference.

 

Ms. O'Neil is a past President of the Professional Liability Fund of the Oregon State Bar, the US District Court of Oregon Historical Society, Oregon Women Lawyers, and the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations.  She currently serves on the Campaign for Equal Justice Steering Committee.  In addition, Ms. O'Neil has been a member of the Maritime Law Associations.

 

Ms. O'Neil received the President's Membership Service Award from the Oregon State Bar in 1990 and an Award of Merit from the Multnomah County Bar Association in 1988.

 

She has published several articles, including "Judgments," Civil Litigation Manual (1993, Oregon State Bar); "When and How to Take an Appeal," Appeal and Review (1993, Oregon State Bar); "Business Risk Insurance Coverage," Advising Oregon Business (1985, 1992, 1994, Oregon State Bar); and "Case Law Update," Oregon Employment Law (1991, Oregon Law Institute), to list a few.
