EDWARD J. BRUNET

Practice Experience:

Mr. Brunet is a Henry J. Casey Professor of Law (since 1994), Lewis and Clark Law School, Northwestern School of Law (1972 - present), Portland, Oregon.  He teaches courses on Civil Procedure, ADR, Complex Litigation, Antitrust, Administrative Law, and Energy.  He was honored with the Leo Levinson Award for Outstanding Classroom Teaching in 1979, 1988 and 1989.  In 1987 he received the Burlington Northern Award, a college-wide award for excellence in research and teaching.

 

Mr. Brunet has been a visiting scholar, University of Adelaide (Australia) first semester, 1992; a visiting professor, University of Newcastle (Australia) second semester, 1991; and a visiting scholar, Edinburgh University, Faculty of Law, Dept. of  Constitutional and Administrative Law, 1984.  Mr. Brunet was an associate at McDermott, Will & Emery in Chicago from 1969 - 1971.

 

Mediation Experience:

Mr. Brunet has had substantial mediation and arbitration experience  in employment disputes, commercial disputes, complex case insurance coverage disputes, environmental disputes, and energy disputes.

 

Professional Activities:

Mr. Brunet is the author of numerous books and articles.  The most recent include:  Summary Judgment: Federal Law & Practice 1999, 1998, 1997, and 1996 Book Supplement), Replacing Folklore Arbitration With a Contract Model of Arbitration, 74 TULANE L. Rev. 39, 1999), Moore’s Federal Practice (3d ed. 1997), Chapters 24, 25 (Intervention, Substitution),  ADR: the Advocate’s Perspective (1997) (co-authored law school casebook [Michie] with Charles Craver), and Toward Changing Models of Securities Arbitration, 62 Brook.
