Practice Experience:
Mr. Gray is a member in the Portland law firm of Stewart, Sokol & Gray, LLC where he concentrates on commercial law, commercial litigation and construction industry matters. He represents owners, prime contractors, insurers, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals in the construction and design law field. He is also involved in claims regarding real property and real estate appraisal.
Professional Activities:
Mr. Gray is a past chairperson of the Oregon State Bar Construction Section, and served as an officer or executive committee member of the Section 1985-92. He is involved in legislative issues affecting the construction industry. He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses on administrative law and the legal profession, and frequently lectures to trade associations and professional organizations on construction law topics. Mr. Gray is a member of the Public Contracts Section, Litigation Section, Forum Committee on the Construction Industry and the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association.
Mr. Gray authored Architect-Engineer Liability Under Oregon Law (Cambridge Institute 1987-89) and served as course instructor. He also authored “The Chain of Privity; Tort Claims Against Design Professionals,” for “Oregon Construction Law” (Law Seminars International 1995 & 1996) and authored Construction Claims Under Oregon Law (Cambridge Institute 1990-92) for which he served as course instructor. Mr. Gray was editor, an author and a course instructor of Construction Claims Under Washington Law (Cambridge Institute 1991). He also authored “Damages Under Construction Agreements” for the Oregon State Bar CLE Construction Law, (1989 & Supp. 1993).
Mr. Gray is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association Northwest Region, for construction and commercial disputes, and regularly serves as an arbitrator. Prior to entering the private practice of law, Mr. Gray served as a judicial clerk at the Oregon Court of Appeals.
